Devig (De-vigging)
Devigging is the process of removing the vig (a sportsbook's structural margin) from a set of odds, so what's left sums to exactly 100% probability instead of the 103–105% or so a book actually posts. It's the mechanical step that turns a book's price into a fair line.
In practice
A book posts Team A at -150 and Team B at +130. Raw implied probabilities: 60.0% and 43.5% — 103.5% total. Devigging scales both down proportionally until they sum to 100%: roughly 58.0% and 42.0%.
Why it matters here
Devigging Pinnacle specifically — not just any book — is how the fair line gets built. Devig a soft book instead and you're just removing one margin to reveal a different, less accurate estimate.
