Avg hold = de-vigged MLB moneyline, 30d · how we measure

Why hold accounts at 3–4 books? The same bet is priced differently at every book. With a few accounts you can always take the best number on offer and never get stuck with a bad price — that's line shopping, and it's the single easiest edge there is. (It also happens to be why signing up through more than one of these helps us — we'll say that plainly.)

Michigan sportsbook FAQ

Which sportsbooks are legal in Michigan?
Every book on this page is legal and state-licensed in Michigan — we only cover licensed operators. You can compare the ones our data covers, ranked by the price they actually offer, in the comparison table above.
Which Michigan sportsbook has the best prices?
We answer that with data, not opinion: the lower a book's moneyline hold, the better its price for you. See the current ranking in our measured hold table — we rank by that number, never by who pays us.
Is it worth having accounts at more than one book?
Usually, yes. The same bet is priced differently at each book, so holding a few accounts lets you take the best available number every time — that's line shopping. No single book has the best price on every game, so a handful covers far more of them. More on why that works, and you can see live price gaps on the board.
What's a welcome bonus, and do I need a promo code?
A welcome bonus is a sign-up offer — often bonus bets after your first wager. Some books need a promo code and some don't; we show each book's current offer and code in the offers section, but only once we've verified the terms against the operator. For how to weigh an offer against price, see Tips for Picking a Michigan Sportsbook.
Which Michigan books are tribal-partnered?
Several. DraftKings, Fanatics, and Hard Rock Bet run on the licenses of Upper Peninsula tribal nations specifically, and every book's casino partner is shown in the table's licensing column and on its review page. That local licensing is a Michigan detail a national site can't manufacture.
How do I read a moneyline?
A moneyline is a straight bet on who wins. A minus number like −150 is the favorite — it's what you'd stake to win $100. A plus number like +130 is the underdog — what a $100 bet would win. The full rundown of bet types is in Bet Types Explained.
How does NeeksPeeks rank these sportsbooks?
By the moneyline hold we measure in our own captured prices — the margin baked into the odds — lowest first. Not by commission: a book that pays us more but prices worse for you still ranks below one that prices better. The method is spelled out in how we measure this.
Is online sports betting legal in Michigan?
Yes. Online sports betting is legal in Michigan and regulated by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, and you must be 21 or older to bet. More detail is coming in Michigan Sports Betting Laws.

Guides

Michigan betting, explained — we're writing these now.

How we measure this

Average hold

A book's "hold" is the margin baked into its two-way moneyline — add up the implied probability of both sides and the amount over 100% is the book's edge. We average it across every MLB moneyline this book posted in the last 30 days, using the closing price on each game. Lower is a better deal for you. It's computed from prices we captured ourselves, not supplied by the book.

Best-price frequency

For each game we compare every Michigan book's closing moneyline and mark which book offered the best price on each side. "Best-price frequency" is how often this book had the best available number on at least one side, across the MLB games it priced in the last 30 days.

Scope & sample

MLB only (the one sport we currently capture odds for) and moneyline only (the one market we capture). A book with fewer than 20 games in the window shows no metric rather than a noisy one.

How the ranking works

Books are ranked by measured price — average hold, lowest first — not by any commercial relationship. A book that pays us more but prices worse for you still ranks below one that prices better.
